Update: September 2010Update on ProgressProgress on new work on any project during the mid-Summer months is always conditioned by the availability of working- party members and also by the demands of regular maintenance. With some two acres of grounds surrounding the Cromer signal box, there are always 'maintenance' tasks to carry out and with most of these it is a case of 'running to stand still'! However, it has been possible to continue with the work of renovating the lever frame on the operating tloor and the levers are looking very smart in their coats of paint. Research has been carried out to determine exactly what the wording needs to be on the descriptive plate which is attached to each lever and arrangements will soon be in hand to acquire new plates to supplement those which are still usable. Now that the platelayer's hut is 'weather-proof, work is in hand to lay a floor and also to apply plaster to the walls so that the building can eventually house a display of artefacts and allied information. The windows of the locking room have been repaired and work can now begin in earnest to renovate this area. |
