Welcome to the Cromer Box website! Working Parties From 09.30 to 16.00 Saturday 7th January Then the first Saturday of each month. Why not come and help us? Update on Progress: September 2010
|
Work is in progress to restore Cromer Box and open it to the public. The last operational M&GNJR signal box was at Cromer, which finally closed when the entire Norwich to Sheringham line was resignalled in June 2000. It still retains its 36-lever frame which dates from 1954. We are working to preserve, restore and convert this listed building as a museum. Subscription Renewals and DonationsYou are invited to renew your subscription for 2012. The amount remains the same at £5.00. There have been a goodly number of generous donations in the past and the Committee hopes that a similar level of generosity will apply in 2012. Although the CRSS has a satisfactory residue left over from the grants that have been received, the likelihood of receiving more grant monies is slender and hence it will be necessary to rely on membership support to keep the project going into the future. Subscribe/Renew: CRSS Membership Secretary, Merchants' Place. 16 Church St, Cromer, NR27 9ES. Sponsor a Lever Label and have your name engraved Each of the levers has a label describing its function which is engraved in heavy duty plastic and then screwed on to the front of the lever. These were damaged when we took over the box and need renewing. For just £15, a label can be made and engraved - working details on the front; your name (or a name of your choice) as benefactor on the reverse. If you would like to be associated with the renovation work in this way (or would like a friend or relative to be remembered or commemorated), please add this amount to your subscription renewal plus the name(s) to be engraved. Thank you for you continued interest in Cromer Box! |
